RESTORATION TECHNIQUES

RCR Ltd has the traditional skills required to undertake any restoration project.

Natural Stone Replacement

The identification of the particular stone to be repaired is obviously the first step in any restoration project and RCR will be able to advise not only in this resect but also on availability from quarry. We carry a design team and can execute any stone replacement from a single cill to a complete façade.

Pre-Cast Stone

The variety in quality of pre-cast stone available within the industry is without end. RCR pride themselves on producing only the highest quality possible and it is often the case that our product is indistinguishable from natural stone. We are able to produce replicas of all the limestone’s and sandstone’s as well as Terracotta in any shape or form.

On the north side of Sloane Square a new hotel and bar has been opened with RCR designing, supplying and installing the Pre-cast Stone and Granite shopfront.

In-Situ Repairs

Where wholesale replacement is inappropriate or too expensive reconstituted stone mixes are available to replicate natural stone. The techniques used require highly skilled operatives, having trained for many years and developed a wide variety of appropriate skills. RCR have trained and employ only the best stone restorers to ensure quality is guaranteed.

Brick Repairs

Brickwork requires the same degree of skills and care as stonework and a variety of restoration techniques are required. RCR execute all brick repairs from repointing in any style to indenting with matching new or second hand units and refacing with an artificial brick mix. Fractures can be stitched using s/s rods or helical bars as well as epoxy resin injection.

A retained facade in central London. Extensive brickwork rebuilding and crack stabilization work was required after the interior of the building was demolished. Note the detailed brickwork at parapet level. New gauged arches were also required.

We also carry out repairs to Stucco/Render/Terracotta/Faience/Granite/Marble/Terrazzo

This former public house has been sympathetically restored and converted into high quality commercial premises. The brickwork has been cleaned using environmentally friendly chemicals and all the moulded stucco restored using traditional lime mortars.

Cloistered colonnades within 19th c almshouses were in danger of collapse. RCR carefully dismantled the brickwork saving as many of the original bricks as possible. New foundations were introduced and the colonnades rebuilt to the original design. Matching second hand bricks were sourced to replace those too damaged to be reused. All the arches were replaced as the original bricks were crushed.
